You won’t regret–JOINING ISA
Hi everyone! My name is Cynthia and I am a freshman studying design and minoring in news and information innovation. As an intern at ISA, I am here to share my experience and encourage you to apply next semester!
Although I have lived in Shanghai, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and now in California, I still need quite a long time to adapt to a new environment. When I first entered college, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone—meet new people and involve myself in more meaningful organizations. ISA is the best place to be engaged if you have similar interests as mine.
One of my earliest memory is the Globefest video I shot with Michelle. Since we needed to browse snacks at Zion Market, shoot videos, and edit, it bought my relationship with people who worked on the project closely together. I recall the day I sent Michelle the stickers I drew and she edited them there at the same time; it was a fun and proud experience since it was my first time coordinating with others to complete a video.
Most people probably know us from events such as international Trivia Nights, Globefest, and Speakers Events. These events incorporated shows, foods, and fun activities to present a diverse platform for students. Everyone contributed to the events no matter front stage or backstage. I have designed Instagram posts, contacted vendors, checked in, and many other positions that assist the events go smoothly. Because of all those interactions, everyone in ISA bonds and has a tied relationship quickly and naturally. We seak good restaurants, study at Leavey, and go to Universal Studios together. I learned so much from everyone and enjoyed every minute I spent with them.
Last but not least, I want to note our responsibilities in ISA. Our advocacy has held Visa 101 which helps international students to solve immigration problems and housing 101 which furnishes information for students finding apartments near the campus. ISA is a place for you to support equality and break the boundary between international students and domestic students.
Please don't hesitate to apply and join the ISA family. You won't regret it! ( btw, you don't need to be an international student to apply!)
